Social Media Statistics
It looks like Facebook is still topping the charts, and that probably won’t change any time soon according to surveys and research polls, but business-based LinkedIn has grown the fastest over the last two years.
More than 70% of adults who are online are using Facebook. LinkedIn and Pinterest are both tied at 28% at second place. Instagram is in third place at 26% and Twitter is lagging in fourth place at 23%.
Also, to go along with the first place standing that Facebook has, it can add that it’s users are more engaged; 70% visit the site daily, compared to only 63% in 2013.
What’s interesting is that teen users seem to think that Facebook isn’t “cool” anymore. My teens, in particular have accounts, but don’t log on or post anymore, and they aren’t alone. Teens all over the United States are trading their Facebook accounts for Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Snapchat, and whatever latest Social media platforms pop up. However, for the first time, more than half of Internet users age 65 and older use Facebook.
Something else that we find to be interesting is that the average number of friends a Facebook user has is 155- but of that number, only 50 are considered to be “actual” friends.
