Social Media Strategy in 2015

As technology gets better, and social media gets bigger, consumers just aren’t accepting mediocrity anymore.

In 2015, small businesses need to bring their ‘A-Game’ and be prepared to improve to increase their influence on social media.

Here are a few ways that you can step it up this year:

  • Fix your face- Your online face, that is. Your profile picture is the first thing that people see. Make it good. It doesn’t have to be a professional picture, but it should be a clear picture that shows that you are a likeable, trustworthy, and competent person.

  • Update your bio- People will be looking at your bio to see if you can be taken seriously. It should be complete and accurate. The more information you give, the easier it will be for people to connect with you.

  • Use a scheduling service (like Buffer or Hootsuite). With services like these, you can write one post that can be shared on several different social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn. What’s nice is that you can schedule your posts several days or even weeks ahead of time, and for ideal times based on what your audience’s social media habits are.

  • Share at least one post per day. In order to maintain and build relationships, you need to be visible. It requires consistent effort over time, but if you continue to post good things, the payoff will be worth it.

  • Stay positive. This can sometimes be difficult when so many people insist on being negative and trying to engage you in online arguments- but people are watching. Some of the best advice- “if you can’t stay positive, then just ignore the haters.”
